Are the mind and body seperate?
Personally I belive that they are sepaerate and that they work together to control a living thing. The are seperate in that they each have there there own idententy and can exist withou each other. Although the mind does control the body as far as what it does the body does not control the mind and both can exist with out one another even though the body may not work the same. The body is a physcal thing that can be touched and examined clearly. The mind is something that you can not touch nor can you measer it. The mind is non physcal but does exist and work with the body to control a live thing.
The standard term for this is call Dualism that was started by Descrates. And he belive that the mind was non physcal and that the body was phsycal. And that we as people can imagine the mind without the body and the body without the mind, thus making them sepearate.

Mind-Body Dualism- A theory that says that the mind and body are different kind of things. The mind is non-physical and the body is physical.

The Mind- the intellectual power in man, understanding cast of thought and feeling, inclination, opinion, and memory

The Body- The trunk of an animal; main part, matter, a persona system; strength; reality; any solid figure

Mind-Body Identity- Events in the brian cause mental experinces. One way discovered by W. Penfield. It helps us understand how introspection works.

Functionalism- implies that any sufficiently complex system will have a mind and that the physical composition of the system doesn't matter.

At the bottom is the link for my video because this would not let me put it into the video thing up top. But this video by MR. Russel is unique in it self. It is a little old but it does disscus his point of view. He does disscuss both sides of the sepctrum. And balances his lecture on both. He does talk about the mind and the body and disscusses it from both points if view and creates and argument for both sides. Such as that your body parts dont affect your mind. And that your mind and body could be seperate.

Mind and Body is the one topic that i choose to do all my stuff on.

In some minor research i have learned that your mind and bosy work as one with each other. For example when you are stressed you might develope and ucler and this is your body recacting to how your mind is feeling.
I have also learn that some people belive that the mind and body are seperate and that one does not affect the other and philosopers call that Parlleism which is odd for me because i always figures them to go together and these people dont think so.
I also learn about these people called monist and dualists were monist are people who think the mind and body are one and dualist who belive they are seperate.

Body and Mind is the fist topic that I am interested in. I think it will tell a lot of neat things about how both of them work together. Or how they are separate and how we as humans need to control both. Also the things we could achieve as a noble person if we had complete control over our mind and our body. The body and mind is a wonderful work of art and I am interested in what problems this book will present about them. I also want to apply the principles of this book about the body and mind to some personal beliefs and see how they compare and contrast.

The Second topic that I am interested in is God and The Origins of The Universe. I think this topic has a lot of things in it that will stir up a lot of peoples feeling. I think this topic will make some people question what they really believe and will lead them to examine themselves and make some absolutes in their life. I think for me it will make me wonder and ask a lot of questions and will make me enjoy this class. I think some people will be offended but it will be the most fun topic in my eyes.
